Sometimes things happen in life that completely change the path we thought we were meant to be on. These things are like a slap in the face and can take your breath away. This can leave us with that punch in the gut feeling, a feeling of emptiness, anxiety, loss and hopelessness. This can then lead to feeling stuck, not knowing how to move forward or fear of what lies ahead. Sleepless nights and days filled with anxiety and depression can follow. However, after all the dust settles, the basis of that stuck feeling is fear.. fear of the unknown, fear of what will happen next, fear of making it, fear of not making it, fear of....(insert yours here) . If you let fear grab hold of you it can lead to despair and inaction. These are our worst enemies. Of course when something does happen to derail or alter the course of your life, you need a mourning period, a time to sit back, reflect and just process everything. But there will be a time when we need to pick up the pieces and start moving again. Recognize the fact that we can move on, we can find another path, we can make a difference. Start by reflecting on the event or your life, ( if this brings you too much sorrow or pain, seek counseling, seek it ASAP) Make a list of things you have always wanted to accomplish, big or small. Even recent inklings of ideas you may have had, but brushed aside. Do research, search the internet about your ideas. Make a list of small steps you can take to move toward those accomplishments. Think and pray. You may find that your new path, new purpose will open up before you. If it does, take action. Make a plan, Do the work and don't worry about every little detail (that is the perfectionist/fear mongering demon that wants to stop you in your tracks). Take baby steps every day to move toward your new path. Sometimes the path we were on, was not the path we were meant to be on, we can think of these life changes as a course correction, if you will. Unfortunately they can be a hurtful one. But that does not mean that we will let it stop us! Look past the despair, the anxiety and fear. A whole new life may open up with endless possibilities! I wish you fearlessness on your new path!- Michelle
